I'm sure you're wondering why I have this layout with Allen Iverson on it, with such a dramatic feel working here? Well, it's simple - the 2008-2009 NBA season has just begun, and my favorite player on the face of this planet is now with the Detroit Pistons! Life is good. I have followed Iverson since his rookie year, and I swear, he never disappoints me on the court. He is phenomenal. A future Hall of Famer, he has consistantly averaged 27.7 points per game throughout his 13 years as a pro baller. Only Jordan and Byrd surpass him in this single category. Awesome.
Iverson exemplifies the American dream manifested into reality. Growing up impoverished in Hampton, VA, being imprisoned his senior year of high school (later overturned by the Governor of Virginia) onto Georgetown University, and becoming the Number 1 Overall Draft Pick of 1996 into the NBA. Once selected, Iverson has become more than an NBA player, but a NBA Super Star. He is a nine-time All Star, has led the league in scoring four times, led the league in steals three times, and has been the shortest league MVP, 2001.
Whether you love him or hate him, you got to respect him for his game.
Certain questions remain unanswered - now that Iverson is finally with a good team, will he win a NBA Championship? Will he finally play defense (the only element of his game that has been lacking)? Stay tuned - prime time entertainment is live and in effect.
